The Linz-Ottensheim Organizing Committee (OC) has canceled the 2021 World Rowing Masters Regatta. This decision was reluctantly supported by the World Rowing Masters Rowing Commission and confirmed by the World Rowing Executive Committee last night.
The 2021 WRMR was set to be held from 1-5 September 2021 at the Ottensheim Regatta Course near Linz, Austria. Due to the continuing pandemic and, in particular, the emergence of the Delta variant, it is now expected that the cross-border and intercontinental travel will continue to be difficult, resulting in very low attendance. With such an expected low turnout it would not be feasible for the organizers to deliver a successful regatta.
All entry fees (including those who made boat rental reservation payments) will be refunded (minus 3.5% transaction fees) to their original mode of payment within one week. For those who had already made logistical arrangements for competing at the 2021 WRMR, kindly cancel bookings at the earliest possible convenience and to try to get refunds, where possible.
The OC is available for questions at office@rudern-ooe.at.
The 2022 WRMR OC in Libourne, FRA (7-11 September 2022) continues its preparations for the 2022 edition with the hope that the effects of the pandemic will finally be over, and the masters rowing community can unite once again in Southwestern France.
